The Longest Masterpiece
Just south of downtown St. Louis and the Arch is a flood wall following the river for about two miles. Since 1995, it has been legal to paint on the interior of the wall. Around 2012, I stumbled upon the wall while filming another project and was amazed at the artwork painted on the wall for a couple of miles. I would spend the next ten years periodically visiting the wall and filming the progression of artwork on the wall. Little did I realize that every year around Labor Day, there is a multi-day festival where artists from around the world come to embrace the love of art, hip-hop, and the wall.
I have organized the photos in the galleries below into three parts: Murals Over Time, The Refresh, and New Coat of Paint.
